Prevention

The primary goal of prevention is to reduce risk factors associated with suicide and increase factors that could protect against suicidal behavior.  The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Garfield County focuses its prevention efforts on approaches that can impact individual community members.  This includes  awareness training, reducing the stigma and myths that surround suicide, and creating a community where it is okay to talk about this difficult subject.  We also monitor suicide data to guide prevention efforts.  The Coalition aims to increase support and connectedness among the people who live here.


Our coalition partners with the Aspen Hope Center to bring a suicide awareness class "We Can Talk" to our community.  If you are interested in attending or hosting a class for your group, please contact us for more information.
